 The Seven Steps Seven Steps( Sapthapathi)
Did you know the seven steps in Hindu marriages….
The bridegroom leads the bride by the right hand through the seven steps around the sacred fire reciting :
“ With God as our guide, let us take,
The first step…. To nourish each other
The second step… to grow in strength
The third step… To preserve our wealth
The fourth step… to share our joys and sorrows
The fifth step… to care for our children
The sixth step…. To be together forever
The seventh step…. To remain lifelong FRIENDS
The perfect halves to make a perfect whole”
At the end of the seventh step, the bridegroom makes her reamin where she is and says,
“ Having taken the seven steps with me, you have become my FRIEND. Let us be friends forever and let us have similar thoughts, mutual love and shine together. Let us share the results of our deeds together, I am the giver, you are the receiver. I am the mind, you are the speech, let us have wealth and good forever.”
