I suggest that you have knowledge of programming and such before you use these things, i just thought i'd share a list of the things i found and i think are useful.

* Have you thought of uncompressing your zip files online? Although, Wobzip is still in the process of development, I found it works very well and easy to use. It supports different formats of zip files, e.g. 7z, ZIP, GZIP, TAR, BZIP2, RAR, CAB, ARJ, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB, LZH, SPLIT, CHM, ISO. After uncompressed the zip file, you can download the unzipped files easily. It has virus detection as well.

* By the use of Feed Analysis, the number of subscribers for each month is neatly shown on the column chart. You can also view the number of subscribers, hits, views and clicks for every single day from the line chart. The best/worst day of the week is also available which is displayed on the pie chart. And also, Feed Analysis can give you an estimated value for your blog / site according to the number of your subscribers.

jRails

* jRails is a drop-in jQuery replacement for Prototype/script.aculo.us on Rails. Using jRails, you can get all of the same default Rails helpers for javascript functionality using the lighter jQuery library. The visual effects in jRails are based on the new jquery-fx library. jRails currently uses a slightly modified version of jquery fx code to get some of the desired effects. This code is evolving and is subject to change. In the meatime, you can get a taste of the visual effects that are currently available.

UI-Patterns

* It has long been common practise to use recurring solutions to solve common problems. Such solutions are also called design patterns. Collections of software design patterns are standard reference points for the experienced user interface designer. This website seeks to better the situation for the UI designer, who struggles with the same problems as many other UI designers have struggled with before him.

Mootools Mocha UI

* Mocha is a MooTools user interface class made with canvas tag graphics. It is really impressive that it requires no images. The windows, including their controls, gradients and shadows, are drawn with the canvas tag. The rounded corner radius are adjustable. Windows can be focused, dragged, resized, maximized, restored down and closed. You are able to create new windows dynamically as well. And also, it is being tested in Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Safari 2, and Opera 9, so you are safe to use it on your web application.

CSS Table Style

* In 2005 Veerle wrote an article about styling a table with CSS. After receiving so many requests Veerle decided to give in and write another tutorial called A CSS styled table version 2. Seems like a popular topic and an interesting one to share some tricks on how you can nicely style them. A CSS styled table version 2 is about the proper usage of tables, for tabular data. How you can implement them with accessibility in mind and how to make them appealing for the eye using CSS. The styling looks stunning and I think you can use it when designing tables or even forms for your websites.

Prism - Mozzila Labs

Mobile Webdesign

* Not free, but you can get a free sample of the book.Cameron Moll is one of the world’s leading web designers. He aims to teach us how to develop websites for the so so-called “standards era” for mobile devices. There are 104 pages of practical advice, tips, & examples. The book costs $19 which I think it is really worth it. PDF book will be available for download shortly after payment is made.

Codepress

* I love this thing, if only i had a decent use for it... CodePress is a web-based source code editor with syntax highlighting written in JavaScript that colors text in real time while it’s being typed in the browser. It supports PHP, Java, Javascript, Perl, SQL, HTML and CSS. CodePress is distributed under the LGPL. It provides the following features.

Live Validation

* LiveValidation is a small open source javascript library built for giving users real-time validation information as they fill out forms. Not only that, but it serves as a sophisticated validation library for any validations you need to make elsewhere in your javascript, it is not just limited to form fields.

jQuery Easy Menu

* FastFind Menu Script is a javascript menu created by ActiveSpotLight under the BSD License. It pulls a content feed as data to populate the menu, this can be static or dynamic. The version they use internally uses JSON/XML as data feeds. This script allows for nested menus, based on dynamic Ajax responses. The menu can also be dragged/dropped by using the jQuery Interface Library. I really like the menu because it is very clean and smooth. It is very extremely useful for any web applications that has no space to place a menu.

Typetester

* When we are talking about fonts, we should not miss this one. Typetester is an online application for comparison of the fonts for the screen. Its’ primary role is to make web designer’s life easier. As the new fonts are bundled into operating systems, the list of the common fonts will be updated. Typetester’s code structure is XHTML, styled with the finest CSS and driven by the JavaScript for manipulating DOM structures. Typetester will not work without JavaScript enabled.

* This requires the Ext framework. Ext is a JavaScript framework for building web applications. It has got some stunning UI components to aid your development. We can use Ext Framework to create Beautiful Ext Grid Tables easily. The tables provide the following features.

Prototip

* Prototip allows you to easily create both simple and complex tooltips using the Prototype javascript framework. If you also use Scriptaculous you can even add some nice effects to them as well. You can easily create fixed or offset tooltips with blinding or fade in/out effect. You can also define Hooking for the tooltips which allows you to place your tooltips anywhere in relation to your target elements. The concept is simple, you define two corners that you want to ‘hook’ to eachother. One on the target element, the other one on the tooltips. It is licensed under Creative Commons, feel free to use it on your projects.

Shrinksafe

* ShrinkSafe is a JavaScript “compression” system. It can typically reduce the size of your scripts by a third or more, depending on your programming style. Many other tools also shrink JavaScript files, but ShrinkSafe is different. Instead of relying on brittle regular expressions, ShrinkSafe is based on Rhino, a JavaScript interpreter. This allows ShrinkSafe to transform the source of a file with much more confidence that the resulting script will function identically to the file you uploaded. Best of all, ShrinkSafe will never change a public variable or API. That means that you can drop the compressed version of your JavaScript into your pages without changing the code that uses it. Many of your Javascript files will be condensed into a single file and compressed.

Robotreplay

* RobotReplay lets you record and watch your website visitors in action. Replay the actual mouse movements of your visitors. View recorded sessions of every mouse movement, click and keystroke. What areas of the page do users spend a lot of time on. Do they appear to get lost? RobotReplay allows us to see where the readers get bored in order to improve the site’s usability and convert more visitors to buyers.

Yotophoto

* Yotophoto is a search engine for free-to-use stock photographs and images. aSSL

* aSSL is a library distributed under MIT License thats implements a technology similar to SSL without HTTPS. aSSL enables the client to negotiate a secret random 128-bit key with the server using the RSA algorithm. Once the connection has been established, the data will be sent and received using AES algorithm. aSSL is composed of some Javascript files and a server side component. A pure Javascript (ASP) server component is currently available. They will do a porting for the main web languages (PHP, Java, Perl, Python, TKL, etc.) as soon as possible once the aSSL has passed the beta phase.

* This was the site that was on the forums awhile back, and we forgot what site it was, but i found it again. It makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server of Browsershots. It supports Windows ( Firefox 1.5, Internet Explorer 5.0 and 6.0 ), Mac (Firefox 2.0, Safari 2.0 ), Linux ( Iceweasel 2.0, Konqueror 3.5 ).

* Script.aculo.us provides you with easy-to-use, cross-browser user interface JavaScript libraries to make your web sites and web applications fly. You can implement different modern effects easily, for example Fade in/out, Blind in/out, Drag and drop, Slide in/out, highlight, AutoComplete and Sortable List, etc. It is one of the most popular animation framworkm which is really powerful and similar to Mootools, however the size of the package is larger than Mootools.

Plugoo

Ajax IM

* Ajax im is a browser-based instant messaging client that you can use it freely on your website projects or web applications. It uses the XMLHTTPRequest object in JavaScript to send and receive commands to and from the server. No refreshing of the page is ever needed for this “web application” to work, as everything is updated in real-time via JavaScript. It is very easy to install and the user interface is so elegant.

FCK Editor Another Editor

* HTML text editor brings to the web much of the power of desktop editors like MS Word. FCKeditor is a lightweight and doesn’t require any kind of installation on the client computer. Web Developers can customize the toolbar, change the skin and install new plugins easily. Users can font formatting and create html text without any difficulties.

CSSType
